Check this out, go to:
http://www.intel.com/ial/indeo/video/index.htm
Then download and check out the Intel Indeo v5.0 codec (it's 100% FREE).
This codec gives great compression and uses a wavelet algorithm that gives
great image quality too. As a rough indicator or how good the compression
is, archive programs won't be able to get any more compression out of them.
You'll be lucky to see a 1% compression on these files by PkZip, usually it's
0%.
You can also download (again for FREE) a progressive download optimizer
program from Intel. It will convert an Indeo v5.0 into a streaming format.
The video will start playing right away during a download, and the image
quality will get progressively better as the download continues.
The only drawbacks are it's only supported on Windows/Intel platforms, no
Macs, Amigas, or Alphas. The other drawback is that since it's a new codec,
you will have to instruct people to download and install the new codec before
they can view your videos.
---------------------------------
The reason why no for Indeo-decoding is existing for Amiga is, that
Intel claim, for a "non-disclosure"-license for programmer, 5000 US$. Since
no commercial programmer port this to the amiga, there is no way, to port
it.
